Samadone Olhaye
Managing Director
Mr. Olhaye is a native of Djibouti and the United States. His expertise is focused on government relations in Africa and his knowledge of the hospitality industry. He has over 10 years of experience in operations and management in the hospitality industry in properties such as the Ritz Carlton and the Mandarin Oriental in Washington, DC as well as the Hyatt Union Square and Lower East Side Thompson Hotel in New York, New York. His undergraduate degree in Hospitality was earned at Lynn University in Florida. He is based in Washington, DC and Djibouti.
William Roberts
Managing Director
Mr. Roberts background includes over 33 years-experience in accounting and business development. Formerly, he was Chief Executive Officer for Washington Consulting Partners, LLC. This Washington, DC based consulting firm specialized in accounting, financial management and business development serving clients such as the Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco ( 14 years) . Mr. Roberts attended Howard University for his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree with a concentration in Accounting and the Johns Hopkins University in the Master of Science in Commercial Real Estate Development program. He is based in Washington, DC.
The Olhaye Family
Mr. Olhaye’s family is one of the most respected families in Djibouti. From 1988 through 2015, Samadone’s father, Ambassador Roble Olhaye, served as the Djiboutian Ambassador to the United States. A brief summary of his diplomatic accomplishments includes:
- Served with distinction in the honorary role as “Dean of Ambassadors” of Washington Corps of diplomats.
- The primary representative for Djibouti in the negotiation agreement between Djibouti and the United States for establishing the U.S. military base Camp Lemonnier.
- From 1988 through 2015, represented Djibouti as the longest-serving Permanent Representative to the United Nations.
- Represented Djibouti on the United Nations Security Council and in 1994 served as President of the United Nations Security Council.
- Represented Djibouti a Chairman of the United Nations Sanctions Committee which established by Security Council Resolution 814 on Haiti.
- In 2000, Ambassador Olhaye was instrumental in the passage of the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) through the United States Congress. AGOA has been at the core of U.S. economic policy and commercial engagement with Africa allow access for thousands of U.S. products into sub-Saharan Africa.
